My brother in law is going to mexico in a couple of months. Any recommendations for Mexican cigars he can get for me while he's there? I'm only looking for a pack of 5 or so as I don't want to ask him to carry lots or entrust too much money to be spent on stuff I can't see myself before buying...

If your brother in law doesn't know cigars don't bother, its rife with fakes.

Stick around here three months, make a 100+ posts and ask Deano very nicely and you may be able to get into some splits/buys offered by forum members and be safe in the knowledge of receiving the real thing.

Unless he buys from the casa del Habano then avoid - biggest place for fakes I?ve ever seen in Caribbean!

There's a very recent post about an LCDH Mexico selling some fakes. I guess avoid the obvious sticks *shrug*

Ah ok. I thought if he bought from a proper shop or at the airport he would be ok.

Where in Mexico is he going? I?ve been to most of the LCdHs in Mexico with no problem. Same is true for Airport duty free shops. But that?s it. I?d only buy off the street if I?m looking for a glass-top box of fakes, which I do from time to time. But not more than $20.

As for mexican cigars, try the Te-Amo!
