Cheers Steve. I know, they are a little less expensive.

I have hundreds and hundreds of 70's comics in a suitcase or two.

Spiderman, Hulk, Ironman, Captain America, Captain Britain, Conan and more from memory. I should dig them out.

It is! I remember taking the bus from Paris to London a few times in the mid 90s to spend my savings on comic books at the Royal National convention. I purchased a few penny copies back in the day including a very nice Spider-Man 39 on which cost me around ?200. That was a lot of money for me back then. I flipped the book a long time ago. I stopped later on to purchase penny copies.

I bought a stack of early Spideys with this book, most of them are penny copies as well. I'm in the process of unloading them all and am meeting a collector on Thursday who is interested in the other big book that I purchased. If he pulls the trigger I will have broken even after just 4 days.

Stuff like this comes along only once every few years. I bought another good collection (around 500 books) 4 1/2 years ago and flipped most of the books over a 2 years period. Part of that money paid for most of the cigars that I own and two 1 month trips to SE Asia. I purchased some higher end original comic art with that money as well and put a nice sum into my savings account to use in cases another collection comes along.

I wish this would happen more often but stuff like this doesn't come around a lot here in France. I have a few friends in the US who make their living like this and it works rather well for them.

The market for comic books and original comic art has exploded over the last few decades. There are a ton of collectors with extremely deep pockets. Arnold Schwarzenegger likes to smoke cigars but guys like Lucas and Spielberg collect comic books.

Do it! If there's anything interesting I'll come over to buy 'em. Cash, tax free!

                        No. Are you?

I only do shows in the US for the store. I don't collect much anymore, prices are to high for me now. And there are no deals to be had at those comiccons since all the sellers know what they are selling, ha ha.

No but two of my sons and their better halves are going. They go for autographs and collectables rather than comics though.

Yes, those comic shows have evolved into something much bigger in the last decade or so! I wish them happy huntings and hope that they don't have to stand to long in line to get those autographs.
