  • Real or Fake Cohiba?

I bought a really old but great condition humidor a number of years ago. it came with a few surprises and a bunch of large Cohiba cigars that had seen better days - knowing there a good cigar i kept them.

i have always suspected they were fake - but what say you?

I've no way of telling how old the humidor is, maybe these paper labels are really old or just really poor fakes - never owned another Cohiba but the ones ive looked at are very different!

Very much fake judging by the bands

          A learning moment?

Here?s an idea, chaps. Why don?t you explain to the young knewbee WHY you think these puros are imposters.

He and others might find it helpful for future references.

This is the old Humidor - it keeps a steadier temp and humidity than my new one. it needs a bit of a stain clean done inside

if anyone has a good stain removal method im all ears

For me the quality of the bands looks very poor and where they join doesn't line up. Also the wrapper leaf looks too poor quality to be a Cohiba

Does it have brass handles on each end? If so I have two of them and yes they're very good.

I wouldn't worry about internal staining and brown shoe polish brings up the outside a treat

Didn't think the dots on the bottom line where yellow like on first picture

No handles - it was cheap as chips. i just gave it a good buff and cleaned the inside with iso. you can see the stain on the slats - i cant think of a non intrusive way to shift that. otherwise its perfect!

The leftmost band has some bleed from the yellow into the white dots.

Also, the band doesn't align which isn't always an alarm bell even on a Cohiba but combined with the other flaws. ...

Finally, there should be white dots all the way around the band but there's a missing row on the left band.

                        Definitely fake

The slats can be cleaned up by lightly sanding with some 180g abrasive. They shouldn't have any finish on them as they are cedar.
