        Hey Shamz,
I don't think the fees are that bad to be honest, especially compared to the big auction house where fees are up to 30% .

The fee is 15% on the sale price plus you also pay VAT on the fee alone, not on the whole price.

e.g. if you win something for ?100, your pay 15% fees i.e. ?15. Then, VAT at 20% is paid on that ?15 i.e. ?3.
        Total you'd pay is ?100+15+3 = ?118

That's what it make you believe I can't remember who bought something recently well a year or.
          It's was more like

          (100 + 15%) + 20%

          100 + 15 + 23 = 138

I've no idea about that but it's15% this time.

Might it have been a big auction house that charged that much? Even so, that's a crazy commission

Is this a bid online thing or do you have to go there?

I just clicked on a few lots. They all said VAT at 20% was applicable on sale of item.

That means it would be sale price + 20% VAT + 15% fee + Vat on the fee. Substantially more than one might expect.

                      This one states

                      2. BUYING CIGARS AT AUCTIONBuyers PremiumThe Buyer’s Premium is the percentage (%) fee or commission the buyer pays in addition to the finalbid price or hammer price in respect of each Lot purchased at auctionCigarsUnlimited charge a “Buyers Premium” of 15%. Value Added Tax at a rate of 20% will be addedto the total amount of the premium or commissions.

                      ref. https://www.cigarsunlimited.co.uk/ac...ing_Cigars.pdf

and its not cgars, this one is cigars unlimited.

Note only some lots state in addition : "VAT @ 20% IS APPLICABLE ON THE SALE OF THIS LOT."

I guess these lots belong to the shop rather than a private collection?

The estimates are already above what the cigars sell for in the online groups, add on the fees (15% or nearly 40%) and its crazy. I expect a lot of it will be off to Asia.
