    • First class summer house did you name it, Have you add guttering and a soak away so the splashes of water of the roof dosen't rot the bottom of your fantastic shed

      • Vitola's Smoking Den - or MLW Summerhouse.....

No not adding guttering, the overhang of the shingles clears the timbers, a natural soak-away consists of 50mm depth coloured welsh slate chippings. The summerhouse is named ?The Retreat? and is raised off the ground - with ground spike foundations. We have not had any issues with splashing - soak-away does the job.

        • Vitola with such a great job on the build I would like to make you a simple sign "No cost to you" why? because I can (my own home built CNC)

          • No a good photo and sign not finished yet.

Sign will have white text and a royal blue back ground (Epoxy resin) outer boarder will be varnished wood but you can choose your own colours

            • Cheers James - that is an extremely kind and generous offer. I have already had a sign made in slate for the cabin, but I was thinking of having a sign made for above the door " leave your shoes and worries at the door "

                • Final Touches........This calls for a Cigar!

                  She is finally all completed......

The remaining jobs to completion - finishing off the shingles and completing the ridges

adding internal lighting - I used hanging LED lighting coupled with a dimmer switch

Finished off landscaping with a combination of slate chippings at the front and coloured gravel around the sides and rear of the summerhouse

Final finishing touches were to add a brass mesh to the air-con vents and a really nice chap up in Yorkshire made me an Acorn finial out of Larch

That's it for now guys. I have really enjoyed this little home project and can look forward to times relaxing enjoying a cigar in quiet contemplation. If you want to start a project like this yourselves and need any tips, advice or help - I would only be too happy to offer assistance

                      • The tims and effort and cost of this has actually put me off for now!

But come winter I'll be regretting it for sure.

                        Thanks for sharing!
