  • I used danish oil on the walls and ceiling, its very good I think to keep the natural look of the wood and just bring out the grain. For the floor though its not really hard wearing enough.

    • I?ve used Danish Oil before, but on much smaller expanses of wood and not a floor. Think I may heed your advice guys

      • Nearly there......

All the final electrics went in yesterday got the outside lights in and managed to finish the ducting for the extractor fan. The fan itself was more of an issue, as it clearly was not a silent fan. Awaiting a replacement - before I can plug that 6" hole in the rear wall of the summerhouse.....have ordered an air purifier, so she should be good to christen with a cigar next week, as long as the replacement fan gets delivered. Internet is in including 5G Wifi - backhauled to the router.

Added the woodwork to the window/door frames for that Georgian look......immediately feels cosier

Floor finished and sealed with first coat of oil/wax - I went with the Osmo Poly-x in the end thanks for recommending guys

Finished off the front facing boards to match the step decking boards - have cleaned up the steps after all the heavy traffic and will sand them down and seal them tomorrow

She blends in quite well into the garden, as if always being part of the view..

Only remaining jobs. Final floor coating. Furnishings to decide next week - install the recalcitrant fan, Install LW garden lighting - smoke cigar!

The final job on insulating & shingles for the roof, I will leave for a few weeks - and will work with our gardener over the coming weeks to landscape around the summerhouse.....

                    • I?m very pleased with it. Just need to finalise furnishings. Smoked a cigar in here yesterday and a Vegueros Entriempos this evening - fan works great and the air purifier really does a great job of removing smoke and stale air.....

                      • The Finishing Touches

Well after the recent heavy bouts of rain, she stood up well to the great British weather.... We have started furnishing the inside of the Summerhouse and MLW wife has decided the summerhouse needs a name.....so far "The Retreat" seems to be the front runner..

Some more photos; including a desk space for when I am working from home, a coffee table and we have on order a corner bed/sofa which should be here in a few weeks.

                          • Looks great..is that an air filter?

                            Comment

                            • Yes it?s an Blueair air purifier with a smokestop filter it runs 24x7. When used alongside a Lampe Berger, there?s no trace of stale smoke. The Lampe Berger is the wood and stone sculpture on top of the desk

                              • I thought so; I've been looking at these and have heard that there is no smoke smell with using them. So you'd definitely recommend them?
