  • Dalay Limitade 2019

This one is making big waves over in Germany right now. I'll get a box next week and hope they stand up to what they promise.

Dalay Zigarren's latest cigar is an attempt at making a cigar in the purest way possible. The Dalay Limitada 2019 Robusto Extra is heading to stores this

Now that's a classy looking smoke!

Yeah, I love the boxes and bands. The flavour is supposed to be sweet and creamy. The blender, Michael G., has done 3 others so far. Their last limitada from 2014 and the more recent Affezibbel and Ferruh Karakasli. I tried the Affezibbel, which has some Brazilian tobaccos in it and the flavour was very nice indeed. Very fresh and light, though well powered on the nicotine side.

I spoke to the blender on the phone before and he's as passionate as one gets about cigars. I'll write a review for both when I can smoke again. (Been sick for 10 days now)

The first few puffs had a note I do not appreciate in cigars. A mild bitter kind of flavour, paired with a lot of sweetness. However, the bitter notes disappeared quickly and the cigar came to a sweetness I rarely had in other cigars.

Flavour is very intense, full on. Getting better every millimetre.

The construction is beautiful and the draw perfect for my taste.

Nice. Perhaps how you lit it contributed to the initial bitterness?

Weather's hardly conducive to a soft flame at the moment though...

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Maybe... The flavour intensifies as the cigar goes on. I am halfway through now and it is still a mild cigar. My tongue feels a bit coated, but that might not be related as I am still not sure I fully recovered from the cold I had.

Right now I am actually missing a bit of spiciness.

One thing I forgot to mention, the wrapper has a wonderful saltiness to it when you first taste it.

Finished. I am looking forward to have more of these. If I had to describe flavours it would be honey and nutmeg. Overall a medium strength.

While the flavour is incredibly intense throughout, it dropped off when I approached the nub state.

Starts of very mild and adds a bit of spice towards the second half, giving way to added wood flavours, but never losing the honey notes.

Produced tons of smoke and the draw was on the lighter side. At the start of the last third it got a bit tight. A second cut opened it up again though and the draw was perfect again. (I prefer a lighter draw)
