To paraphrase Churchill, I've had for more from cuban cigars than they've ever had from me. The relaxation that comes from a good cuban is priceless. Well, almost. In reality it costs about fifteen to twenty quid...

        Morning Gents
There was some very interesting research regarding the effects of nicotine on long term brain health, particularly prevention of dementia and Parkinson's.The dosage was given at around twice per week which seems a nice balance between risk and reward to me.

Correct Carl, carried out in Australia I believe. I read it last year I think. Ironic though that my late father in law gave up small cigars years ago when he had a blood clot in his leg yet died of dementia/alzheimers.

There was an interview with a few years ago on a pipe smoking podcast, because nicotine is a naturally occurring compound it can't be patented (like alcohol), so pharmaceutical company's were/are working on a derivative (which can be patented)
So far every derivative has given less effectivness or much worse side effects than straight nicotine. This for me explains a lot about why it's not more widely studied. Follow the money!

I've just read online that obesity is the new smoking. Great, so go harass the fat people and leave us to enjoy our cigars in peace.

Bad times for fat cigar smokers. That reminds me, I need to go on a diet.

I'm about 4kg up to 92 again. Need to reign it in. But food and drink is my solace.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

2 beers every night now. Habitual. And then the crisps come out.

I bought two beers for the game tonight. Other than that I drink maybe once a month except for vacations.

Don't mention the crisps! Apparently we eat more in the UK than the rest of Europe combined.

Maybe it will become illegal to be fat in a public place...
