I think i saw this on another forum but would be good to get all your learned opinions.

What cigars, particularly cubans, are good to go with just a few months rest? Im looking at picking up a few boxes for the summer, particularly longer smokes and im torn over what to get.

Wide and short Churchill's often get mentioned. Anything else that springs to mind?

I found the Partagas Aristocrats are good new as are most Vegueros and the QdO 50. Or just smoke NCs

Ask your trader of trust about what's ready to be smoked now. It can vary...

They all change as they age, you may like the taste of any cigar younger rather than aged. Best to try and see yourself what you like

          This is perfect advice.
I always smoke a cigar from a box as soon as I get them. If I like it, I'll smoke more and if I don't, I'll lay them away and retry them every 6 months or so

If I understood 7Kingsguy correctly, he wanted to buy cigars for this summer. So if he goes for a box and it turns out it has to rest another year, that would leave him smokeless or with a pile of boxes that all need to age for longer.

Last time I ordered cigars from a store, the owner would tell me which Cubans are good to smoke right now. (from his stock)

Generally, the milder ones would be more promising to smoke fresh, the stronger ones benefit more from aging.

Yes although i wouldn't say i would be smokeless if they do need aging. Ive got a thousand odd sticks sitting in the humi! Just a lot of it is fresh and needs time. I was going to pick up a couple of options for the short term.

As for milder being better, there are quite i few that suggest aging, plpc for example, even though they are mild, so im not sure if that is much to go on.

                HDM DC's
                HU SW's
                Parti Lusi's

Big stick's that smoke well straight out the gates IMO.

This is what a cigar merchant claims to help with. Get to know his customers and able to suggest cigars.

                  Then the internet happened...
                  .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Ready to smoke ??? Need age ???

in my opinion ALL habanos benefit from (at least) 3 years of rest .

that being said ... I believe ... ready to smoke and needs age is most often confused with water content (relative humidity) that cigars are at ... if they are already at 62% they are ready to smoke .

                    Just not aged

Not a bad point made, although I smoke nearer to 65, pulled a HUHC out of a tin yesterday, and although there was no negative effects from lack of aging (JUL 17 boxcode) there was a negative effect from not having settled RH.

I smoke nearly every day so that's 300 plus a year. You'll be surprised how quickly you can acquire a decent stock and also how you have to constantly replenish it
