Juan Lopez seleccion no 2. Quite pleasant

Possible second one with the Punch Coronations tubed but will need another one to decide.

So there is a glimmer of hope for me yet.
I love a good JL2! They need time to settle in the humidor and can be a bit hit or miss but when they're 'on' they're a fantastic stick!

Agreed, the JL PC is rather tasty too.

My last CC from the previous order. Partagas series D no. 4
Quite nice too to end on a positive note.
Maybe it was helped by being in the sunshine.

Hmm spoke too soon. Horrid tunnelling at half way and constant relights to get it to the end.
Tasted ok but was a mess.

I hope you've been converted because that list of smokes you don't like reads like a very tasty menu indeed to my eyes...I love them all!

Well from that list only the Partagas serie D floated my boat.
So still mostly a heathen but if we all liked the same things there wouldn't be the variety of cigars there are.

Indeed Kickback, that is very true. I'd never knock another bloke for his personal taste. At least from the mass of cigars there are in the world we can all find a pleasure somewhere! I also enjoy a pipe but that is also a shrinking pleasure dome these days.

I used to smoke a pipe in the early 90s and can certainly appreciate the ritual and great pipe tobacco flavours you can get away from usual shop brands.

The ritual is all part of it for me. Same with cigars. I like a fat ring size because it's a far more tactile experience

Reading this with intrest I hope to find some good cubans for this read to try.

I thought I was the only one that only tasted soap and ash from a cigar

Had a Punch Coronations this morning given my last one. This one however was truly awful. Bugger would not burn straight. One side wouldn't burn at all, needed constant lighting ,tunnelled, had huge stems in it, was so hard work trying to keep it going that it was bitter and hot. Got plugged half way and all sorts of massaging etc would not recover it. Binned.
In hindsight I should have taken it out the tube in the humidor but thought a month in there at 65 should have been ok.
Crap start to a crap day.

I can't really taste the difference between Cubans and others, but I've had some pants NCs - bad construction, horrible to cut where the cap is like hollow, with bands that wouldn't come off until they were half burnt (an avo too - I expected better). Haven't had that with a cuban yet. Look at this beautiful cap on the quai d'orsay!

I think it might be like Swiss watches. There are plenty of great non Swiss ones (even some good Chinese ones) but lots are crap, whereas all Swiss are good quality (design preference aside). I dunno.
                            Stay smoky
