NC Upmann ?The Banker? from a COTM a while back. First one I had was what I considered a real ?smokers cigar? you needed to actively smoke it to get the best out of it. This ones probably nearly a year older now

Really has got a rich and sweet start to it- I was contemplating other sticks and am rather delighted with this choice!

Fundadores this afternoon before I visit my family. Wasn't impressed with this one and it was my first ever Trinidad

A Punch EL 2017. Strange thing is it's OK today, but was amazing when I bought my first few boxes. I don't know if it's me, the cigar, or the fact that I dropped them to 65%. Maybe it's as simple as the weather or Brexit [emoji39]

Hmm, say some more, Fundys are usually hammer smokes. However there are a few details to be mindful about: They’re thin, that means you must smoke them slowly and carefully. If hurried in any way, they may grow on you because of the concentration of taste characters and strength. It should preferably be pigtailed only and not cut, if cut the draw may be looser and it may be smoked faster and the above mentioned may occur. If very young the “youth” may set in early because it’s thin and that taste will build faster and more intense. If too wet, it will be a tighter draw and easier to forget to slow smoke resulting in any of the above. Just my 2 cents.

Well I picked this up from the humidor at the B&M so it'll have been young and could have been slightly over humidified due to its proximity to their humidifier. I had burn issues from the start and it went out a couple of times, plus I couldn't really get a great deal of flavour from it in the first two thirds. By the end it was just ok but it really put me off trying any more Trini's for a while

Thanks for the update mate. Yep, your observations point to a “too wet” smoke. Never smoke a Lancero type too wet. It will not burn, you will keep sucking and the build up of Flavour will off balance the smoke. Please don’t ditch Trinidad so early - try a coloniales, it’s a great smoke.

No problem. OK I'll give a coloniales a bash in the coming months. I'll be sure to share my experience, I think I was mostly disappointed because I expected big things from the marca
