Your first box purchase?

I'm sure it's been done before .. but I couldn't find the thread. A few of us were chatting the other day and the topic of your first box purchase came up.

What did you open your box purchase account with?

Mine was a box of Partagas P2 that was part of a bundle put together by a tobacconist in Exeter back in the days when mail order meant mail order! I had a flyer through the post offering up marqua branded humidors with a box or two of appropriate sticks to fill them. I chose a black lacquered Partagas branded humi with a box of P2. It was supposed to also have a box of D4.... but I got him to do the deal with only half a box! I still have some of the P2's (from '08 i think)... the D4's ('06)were I thought all gone but recently found 2 at the bottom of the humi!

Mine was a box of RyJ No 2 tubos bought from a tabac in Majorca. The low price lured me into cigar smoking proper because I'd been put off by UK prices previously.

Monte 2 was my first box buy. I had a bunch of various singles already. I've still got 2 of those Monte 2's.

Don't remember the year exactly but would have been 2006ish.

Now.... What I don't remember is if I bought a box of the RA Eminencia 2005 release at the same time! I've a couple of these left as well.

Started small, box of R&J Julieta's, figured they would be fine to replace the Cafe Creames I used to smoke at the bank. Like PJ, I started buying Havana's in Spain, where back in '96, they were really cheap. Next visit I bought the first box of Monte No4's (had several over subsequent visits), as well as singles of Hoyo Epi No1 &2's (unbranded), R&J Churchill's & some Cohiba Esplen's.The start of a long & slippery downward slope!

Box of 25 Monte2's back in 1996 - looooong gone now. But I still have a few Co Esplendidos from back then. I should've continued that spree, if I had I would've had a collection of a million sticks today...

RYJ Petit Coronas in 2009. Brought a few of the five packs before this, then brought my first humidor to accommodate these.

My first 'humidor' was a Cohiba Esplendidos box inside a ziplock bag, given a squirt from a water mister. a perfect way to keep a few singles box fresh while you smoke them.

Still have that box...

I recall unbanded cab's... they were infinitely open to abuse I am sure... But somehow cabinet seleccion did seem to have a different vibe to it...
