These Melanios are really good looking cigars and a very good smoke as this one was until the final third when it suddenly tasted soapy. Checked the end and there's the culprit, tar. I did a quick Google search but the internet is obsessed with tar in cigarettes so what causes a build up of tar in cigars?

I was told that massive tar build up becomes less with age... But I had tar pouring out of an 8y old cigar before, so not sure...

This was at least 8 to 9 years old and the only one out of two boxes that did leak oily tar.

I wasn't impressed with the first two I had add that were a bit too 'wet' but six months of drying out has sorted then right out.... Now smoking beautifully

Now going after 2 hours!! I did pick it straight from my long time storage at 68-70 Rh and it?s now not as ?tasty? as the one I had in Switzerland- should probably have dry boxed it first for a few days.

They are lovely smokes. My first ever box, bought by my wife, was a box of these. Shame about the tar

Overnighter away in Bristol with the missus for a much needed spa break. Didn't bring any smokes as I didn't think I'd have the chance. Having a cocktail in the bar (Harbour Hotel Bristol FYI), and I notice a nice humidorin the corner. So maybe I'll pick one up as a little souvenir. ?28 for a cogiba exquisitos? No thanks. The missus almost insisted I get one but that's a piss take. So today I'm smoking nothing.
