• Packing cigars to post

    Hi everyone,

In anticipation of possible upcoming box splits / trades and passes, how do you ship out cigars to protect them during transit.

Tubes/cardboard cigar boxes plastic bags and shrinkwrapped or how do people normally do it? I wouldn't want to send someone a cigar and it get damaged or dry out or anything.

    Cheers

Clingfilm or zip lock bag and if I have one a small boveda if sending a box. Then bubble wrap / box or jiffy bag.

Singles in a ziplock bag in a jiffy bag inside another jiffy bag. Not had a damaged one yet and very often go as large letter post and fit through a standard letter box.

Depends on the cigar, a Robusto, can often fit inside a toilet roll, I like to use new ones for the adding protection of the toilet paper then just plug each end with a rubber sink plug, write the address on the toilet paper and wrap in cling film, away you go.

A lancero can easily be sent by pouring pistachio shells into a wine glass until you have a layer around 1" thick, sliding the cigar in and then packing the remaining space with remaining pistachio shells, pop the cork in and replace the wine label with their address. Off you go.

I had some lanceros sent in a couple of Jiffy bags. Bit they were unfortunately swished by our postal service. Fortunately the wrappers are still intact and so smoking fine. But I'd certainly use some cardboard for some protection where possible for longer sticks.
                  .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

No, these guys are all taking you for a ride. The ONLY approved way (as they well know) is:

a cedar tube which you should fill with eider duck feathers; THEN the pistachio shells (duh!); then into a vellum bag with satin cord drawstrings; then a chamois leather envelope; THEN the jiffy bag; then a carbon sleeve; then the hand-carved wooden box (available from moteyi); then a PO cardboard packing box. If there's more than one cigar, then double everything obvs.
