I'm seriously considering complaining to someone about the pack of Bakewell Tarts I've just bought from Morrisons. By definition a Bakewell Tart is a shortcrust pastry case containing layers of jam, frangipane and icing. Frangipane is not unflavoured sponge cake Mr Morrison, its a soft confection made with and tasting of almond. Bloody cheapskates, should have stuck with Mr Kipling. Anyone else?

Morrisons fails on so many things for me. The bread from the bakery is terrible, in fact most things from the bakery are bad. The fishmongers can't seem to fillet fish or remove pin bones from Salmon. Some of the meat is good though, had a lovely Lamb shoulder from there last weekend.

Most supermarket branded packed stuff we avoid. Apparently Morrisons meat and our local fish counter seem ok.

But yes I'd take em back and complain John. I'm quite fussy about Bakewell tarts. Certainly shouldn't be sponge FFS!

Was there even an almond taste in it? I must admit I wouldn't have been happy either

In the end, you tend to get what we pay for when food is concerned.

The icing is optional, the frangipane is not.

Would still go with the pudding over the tart though.

Both - hot custard, cold ice cream

Good lord. What's the matter with the two of you? Bakewell does not need ice cream or custard. Just a nice cup of coffee. OK OK, or perhaps tea if you're that way inclined.

Bakewell tart doesnt, but proper bakewell pudding is great with custard AND ice cream
