  • Storage advice

So I?m planning on purchasing 20-30 Cigars but I?m unsure the best way to store this many.

Should I get a humidor which can hold 30? 50? Or should I just get a large Tupperware pot and some packets of Boveda.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks
    Steve

Cut to the chase and get a large wine cooler that can store 1000+

In all seriousness the typical advice is to get more space than you think you will need because that view will quickly change. Many use Tupperware and I see no issue with this but if you are committed to the hobby and can spare the coin my personal preference would be a nice sized desktop humidor in the 100-150 count range.

They don’t have to break the bank, you’ll have plenty of capacity to grow into if you are planning to buy 20-30 and they look much nicer than Tupperware IMO.

Also they will never lose their use, I still keep most of my loose singles in my 150 count despite having c1200 count wine cooler.

The problem with getting a larger humidor I thought would be keeping the humidity consistent. I read they should be kept at least 50% full?

Most of the mid size ones have several compartments or drawers, I can’t see it being an issue if you keep them all in one compartment.

Maybe someone else could weigh in on this but I don’t recall ever struggling with humidity in my humidor.

See what others say, the most important thing is a good seal.

The Germanus cubes are a good solid start and are generally well received.

Any links would be appreciated to what people are currently using or recommend.

If I was to go with Tupperware briefly while deciding what humidor to go for is there a certain amount of Boveda required?

I’m not sure what the minimum would be but you can’t have too many Boveda because they have two way humidity control I.e. they can absorb or give out humidity depending on what is required. So the more you have the longer they will last before needing recharging.

This requires one Boveda pack at 65%, I have seven of them.

How many boxes can you fit in one of these PeeJay? I might grab a couple for a short term storage solution.

This is excellent thank you. I think I?ll order one of these and keep it as a back even after I get a humidor for when I lose my mind and make a huge order.

I've one of those with about 8 dress boxes in there.

But I have 2 bovedas in there! They seal so well though. Never need to charge the boveda in over a year so far.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

3-4 depending on size. I keep a lot of oddments in mine too like small tins of cigars and paper packs like Yellow Cakes

Does it make a difference if you store them in boxes or loose within whatever you?re using as a humidor? If I buy a box should I just keep them in that inside the Tupperware?
