Well, for one I?m coming JUST a little bit to grips with the MONTEGROTESCO size[emoji41]
The first one I had was smoked ROTT more or less and was boringly useless. This one much better. Probably because it?s been able to rest some months in the humi and settle down a bit.
I was impressed by the burn, the ash kept hanging on till way over half even though there was quite some wind. Good aromas and taste. Punch profile? Well certainly nothing in the vicinity of the DC from last week and tonight?s Ninfa. In my limited experience I try to judge all NEW cigars after a few cornerstones. My newest cornerstone is the Soberano. I know this is not an EL with aged leaf, but it is not far from the Soberano in price and from that perspective I have to be ruthless. No buy more. If you think that?s tough, then I?d say buy 6 North Stars for every one of these - ER against ER[emoji41]

Easy to light and held the ash really well especially considering the wind this evening but I wouldn?t rush to buy more.

Flavour was pretty mild and stayed consistent throughout, not a bad smoke considering the price though.

Very young but surprisingly nice little stick.

The ones I had were from '01 I think. About a third of them were rolled a bit too tight unfortunately. The ones that weren't were excellent!

And what did you think? I a couple years ago but the couple I have had over the last few yrs had been very forgetable, & they had some age on them.

Monty 4 for me this evening. My first one actually. Whilst I wouldn't say it's my favourite PC, it's still pretty good.
Hard to believe you had missed this classic so long Neil, the first Havana for many & for a long time the biggest selling Havana. A good one can be a delight, I had a box from the 70's which were soft but very rewarding. Most are mid rage & a few older ones from the period they reputation went down are dull but recent production I believe are much improved. PC is a great size, I remember when it was my most common smoke & chuchill's looked enormous!

Up to 03 some are supposed to have draw issues. My box is from 03 (I think) and all smoked fine.

Not bad at all, Simon. A nice mild smoke, a lot of wood flavours with bursts of sweetness. Great for a morning smoke that you do not have to think too much about! In one respect it’s a bit like a poor mans hoyo...
