  • Best Price-Quality Ratio

Just as the title suggests, I?d like to know what you think the best ?bang for your buck? marca is?

For me, Vegueros takes some beating. A comparatively inexpensive Cuban with bags of flavour that smoke very well young - I?m yet to try one with significant age on it, but if you haven?t had one yet, I highly recommend them!

HDM Palmas Extra, H Upmann Regalias and RYJ Belvederes.

    Possibly PL Panatelas Extra

For me, best value brand would have to be Jose L Piedra, as you can buy a box of 25 decent Cuban cigars for around ?50 when you're abroad. The Cazadores at ?2 a pop are particularly good value and decent smokes when aged for a few years.

Other good value cigars - Por Larranaga Monte Carlo; Rafael Gonzalez Panatelas; Hoyo De Monterrey Palmas Extra.

Actually, any Cuban cigar bought when visiting outside the UK is good value!

I wonder what you mean by quality...

My best ratio must be the Principes...a couple of quid each, very easy smoking, Wonderful taste ...but whether there's much quality I wouldnt say.

        Nice cigars though.

bang for buck... depends how and when you smoke.

If you want an affordable stick for the occasional smoke then reliability and quality point towards Upmann and HdM or Monte

If you want an occasional special occasion smoke then arguably a CoRo is a good place to go... in my experience exceptional quality time and time again.

But for something more reliable and repeatable the JLP no2 is a really well priced stick. HdM Pettt Robusto is similar. ERDM Choix Supreme is a stick that is seemingly undervalued too.

However, FWIW the best advice I can give anyone in getting bang for buck is buy your sticks carefully. Buy smart, buy abroad, and buy from trusted sources. 5 mins on the web will fill your head with horrendous stories about fakes, re-banded sticks, dried out crud, etc etc etc... the value in buying smart is well beyond the relatively modest price differential between sticks... etc etc etc

This for me, would rarely choose to smoke one over something else but for the price they're unbeatable to me.

Like McDee I'd go for RG PanX, lovely rustic flav & decent length of smoke, greatly improved after 2-3yrs of age; best brought abroad for most economic price of course. Unfortunately I never managed to get into JLP's but the Petit Cazadore is reasonable basic smoke & certainly the best of the marca. Some like the Quintero's but again they don't do much for me.

However, to take Emaresse's point about what you think of as value for money, I worked out yrs ago that DC's are actually the best value for money of all the vitolas & the smallest cigars like Demi-Tasse & Laguito No3's are the most expensive by square inch of tobacco.

Yrs ago Robusto's used to be around the E8 mark & stand production DC's are good value if looking for a long smoke.

PL Montecarlos are the best value for money IMO. Cheap, a great size and age an absolute treat.

For what it’s worth my two penneth worth would of for. HUHC ( if sourced while on a overseas trip) are ? for ? the best value for money smoke although I picked up a box of RG la perk as thathave about six years on them and they run them close. I have a box of JLO Petit cazadores in my humidor as they too are a decent smoke when time and weather is a bit of an issue.
