Sorry to read this, but I think you are making the right decision - no point in doing something if it makes you feel unwell - smoking cigars is very much for pleasure.

    All the best, SteveA

You might have a hiatus hernia that's exacerbated by the smoking. Have you had an endoscopy? There is the option for surgery which should cure it

Find out what causes a hiatus hernia, which is when part of your stomach moves up into your chest, and how to treat it if needed.

I hadn't heard of this and I can understand it for (inhaled) cigarette smoke, but is this the case with cigars too?

I think it's from dissolved nicotine in the saliva being swallowed. Plus there'll be some nicotine absorbed from the oral mucosa which will get distributed throughout the body via the bloodstream. That's why some folks love a cigarette to help them go poopoo! I know a lot of women who refuse to stop smoking as they can't crap otherwise!! Nicotine has a pronounced effect on the whole length of the alimentary canal resulting in relaxation of sphincters and an decrease in bowel transit time which leads to heartburn and poops!

Obviously not as pronounced an effect if you're not inhaling but we cigar smokers are definitely getting a nicotine effect thus Stevo's reflux

Sorry to hear this news, would advise seeking complete check up first, could be signs of something serious. Best sort out first & then make a descion about selling. I went through a phase when I couldn't toterate red wine, when I had a couple of hundred bottles in the cellar. It passed by upping my Omeprazole to 40mgs daily (also had gastroscopy.
Shame to sell a collection, if it can be Safely avoided.

I think Simon is spot on, complete check up first and see what the options may be.

Just an update for you all. Started the medical process and things are better with w change of diet but also without the sticks for sure.
I decided to go ahead with my decision and as such the collection is now sold - with the exception of some Boli?s and the Series P which my wife bought me as a birthday present. I?ll save those for the very special occasions in the future years.
Thanks to Simon Bolivar who - despite advising me to think long and hard about selling up - was able to accommodate the lot.
                    Very smooth transaction.
I?ll still drop in here though!
                    Steve
