  • ERDM

Just read a comment on an aussie forum that cited ERDM (in some folks view) as being a poor mans Cohiba... I confess it surprised me a little as I've never thought to compare the two...

As a fan of this marca I am happy to be the poor man... although who doesn't like a good dose of Cohiba from time to time too....

    thoughts?

I read somewhere that back in the 20s and 30s ERdM were the most prestigious brand in the world... And probably the most expensive lol

choix supreme are just a delight with a few years on them... not a big block buster cigar but just a pleasant and enjoyable stick

Got a few of these knocking about in one of my humidors. Often reach for one but had a bad experience smoking one on the day I bought them. They were probably a bit young. But having acquired then Aug 2017 I wonder if they should be approaching smokable now ?

That seems a strange thing to say, they don't even have the same sizes and ERDM is the old brand, by 80 odd years

As far as I know the only cheap alternative that has been produced is Diplomaticos as an alternative to Montecristo

I think it was a indirect compliment, calling out that they are and remain to be quality sticks. But likely thats where the cohiba comparison ends as far as my taste buds can tell!

I am a big ERDM fan but to be honest, the only similarity I could think of is their quality. Yes, ERDM won gold medals in the past & I did know that once were were the most expensive but these days they hardly register in that scale. But the quality has always been there in my 20yr experience. I have had some tight D.T.'s from 2001 but the bad years were bad across the board but that aside, you can rely on excellent leaf, good construction & a wonderful signature flav, every time.
This leave I tried my first ERDM Tainos, it was from 2006 & blew me away, such rich & wonderful flav, in a Churchill format, that can easily compare with any other Cuban Churchill. I have long admired the LGC Tanios but I have to say this ERDM surpassed even that fine vitola.

I've only ever had a demi tass, for a very short smoke it is superb, I love the cohiba panatelas but it's much pricier! The DT is much better value for money so I can kind of get the comment.
