  • Tubed cigars

I have recently received some tubed cigars in metal and glass. When storing them in the humidor, do you take the lids off or is it just a mater or preference? Are the tubes designed to breath a little or is it a complete seal? They must be stored at the manufacture and shop in the tube, so does it matter?

This is one of the questions that there isn?t a right answer to.

The tubes don?t seal fully no so they should always be at least kept in a humidor. Personally I take them out of the tubes as mould can be an issue with keeping them there.

Can there be mould if the tubes are metal or glass? They are not cedar lined

The mould forms on the cigar so the container is irrelevant. The compromise is to slightly loosen the lid before putting them away in your humidor.

Personally I leave mine int he tubes & check occasionally but they age better (supposedly slower) & the flav's can be richer & more concentrated. Take them out of the tubes & they'll be just the same as non-tubed cigars. The R&J Churchill is a classic example - who doesn't think the tubed is the better version? Don't forget you have paid more for the tubed version. An obviously keep all your tubes, use them when you go out with one or two smokes, the lightest & lest bulge in your DJ.

I would prefer to leave them in tubes but a box of 5x3 mag 50?s from Cuba put me off doing that cause of a mould issue. So it currently makes me a bit nervous to leave them in

That is interesting I happen to have a couple cigars that I have tubed and un-tubed I will use them as a test then

That?s what I was planning to do with the tubes afterwards

The secret is to smoke them before there's a chance of mold.

Is it mould or plume though?
