With the night getting longer and getting colder!!
I was wondering if you guys have any traditions for protecting your cigars? For the past 3 days I have woken up with a alarm going off bout my humi temp to low. So do you guys move your humidor to a different place? Change the rh%?

    Daniel

? keep calm and smoke a cigar?

    Where is your humidor?

Mine are kept in a cupboard central in my house that doesn?t vary in temperature a huge amount so never really thought about it

I would turn off the alarm

Unless you're cigars are going through massive fluctuations I wouldn't worry about temperature. I never had and it doesn't seem to have affected my cigars. Just keep the humidity topped up (and even then, I only check mine once a week)

Mine are stacked up in a room at the back of the house. It doesn't get direct sunlight. But the temperature does vary seasonally. But it never seems to have been a problem.

I've had a stash for over 10 years, some sticks up to 15. Before my recent CAD.... And when I do dip into these they are great.

They've been through these seasonal fluctuations a lot.

Don't forget your cigars aren't fermenting anymore (because there's no temperature rises in your pile of cigars) but they will be slowly changing. Most notably earlier, then less over time it seems.

So I don't think the normal UK indoor temperature fluctuations being a problem.

The temperature will affect the airs ability to hold moisture too so monitoring that so it doesn't swing too far for too long is good. The two way humidification devices are great for this.

The worst thing about this weather is the impact on cigar opportunities!
        .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

How low is low? Like said above turn the alarm off or lower the threshold.

Okay it sounds like I?m just panicking for no reason, so as long as I keep the rh at the right level they should be fine? I?m using boveda 72s and looking at the graph they are keeping it pretty stable. At the moment it?s dropping to the mid 50s Fahrenheit

Personally I think 72 is too high...you might want to drop to 69 at least

Sorry I ment to say with the 72s it?s keeping it stable at 70%

As I understand it, because boveda is an active medium, temperature is a lesser concern as it helps manage relative humidity changes.

But I am pretty sure a chemist will step in to clarify....

Don't forget we freeze cigars to kill off tobacco beetles so cold won't hurt your precious stash.

Based on your experiences, the wineador RCH gave me is in my garage and the temp is broadly pretty low in the summer and super low in the winter. The boveda manage humidity superbly, and the sticks have seemingly taken to the environment exceptionally well.
