You always find ages stock in Spain as the Spanish like the Cubans prefer fresher younger cigars. When rummaging in Spanish walk-in humidors for aged boxes in the past Ive talked to the retailers and they don’t understand the British fascination with old stock.

Totally agree, my experience too. Like the French don't get us laying wine down for yrs, they'll drink it young & if they find a vintage bottle they'll drink that too. Perhaps because so many live in small flats without storage space, let alone a cellar (which is pretty normal in Belgium).
Just check all boxes in Spain for weevil damage!

Dont exports to Spain get frozen prior to them being exported!?!
When did this habanos freezing business start anyways?

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

They're frozen but you're freezing them in a country suited for weevils and then sending them to another suited for them climate wise. So depending on how they've been stored there is a danger

Yes frozen in Cuba before export (cigars for sale in Cuba aren't frozen BTW). But as Simwells mentions, conditions in Spain are ideal for weevils & I have personally seen hundreds in a Tabac in Vigo & the staff were not concerned at all. So check the top row & bottom row of the box. If it's still sealed, insist on opening it after paying for it on the basis that if if there's damaged you get a replacement or money back.

                Nice haul!
I was stopped going back into Spain from Andorra last year. I was asked if I had any alcohol. I did but it was burried under more than my quota of cigars which the customs officer then took interest in. Fortunately the word 'short' was prominent on a couple of boxes and I was asked if they were small cigars........ well they were compared to some of the other ones I had

This trip mid-August is looking less and less likely to happen now as locals being advised to stay indoors again.

Yes some places in Spain I’d rather not feel like visiting at the moment.

Think we will be landing at El Prat and heading elsewhere. Always knew it was risky but booked everything with last minute cancellation.

Oh joy. A 14-day endorsed quarantine now in place for any UK traveller heading back from Spain.

I was saying earlier. Make sure you bring back enough extra to last you through quaquarantine

That’s the plan assuming I get there and everything’s open when I’m there 🤬

Random question - I assume I’ll be OK bringing half a dozen boxes back through to the UK in my hand luggage as long as I don’t exceed 200 sticks ?

In theory yes. And the 200 is a guideline but I wouldn't bother going over it, not worth the hassle.
