First Cohiba to buy

Here's a selection of my fav Cohbia moments. Now Midas has confirmed he can actually see my photos (first time in 6months?), I'll fill oyu in on them.
1/ Esplen' smoked in 2008, after catching my first 20lb Pike, something I had been after for 18yrs, what else would have been as satisfying for such an event?
2/ Piramides Smoked in a Belgian Cafe during a birthday party.
3/ Siglo VI smoked in the Piano Bar New Year's Eve 2008, (no need for the glass house back them, still legal to smoke in cafes &clubs in Belgium 5-7yrs after UK ban.
4/ CE old band smoked 2014, on Isle of Bute to celebrate my PB there of 17lb pike.
5/6/7/ Reserva Robusto from my 2002 Seleccion box. My daughter's Master's graduation, Bournemouth Nov 2015.
8/ Ignore, I smoked a Lanceros after this RA Canadian ER but attached the wrong photo & can't delete it.

I'm yet to have had any luck with Cohiba, have now got a couple Siglo IIs with a decade on them but the few I've tried before have all had construction issues or been plugged before I knew what a perfecdraw was.

'Better' that is subjective... ! better value... or better quality?!

Quality? Its CUBA! Its all ways a roll of the dice with regards the draw and build quality. Value? Well its Cohiba so your at a point where logic is out the window and your happy to spend the cash.

TASTE! Thats where its at, and that is subjective. My pallet is not the same as yours, but I bet we are not worlds apart.

I have rarely ever had a problem with Cohiba's, most problems seem to be due to lack of ageing &/ or too high humidity; try dry boxing for a couple of days before smoking.

I have a lot of respect for cohiba (apart from their prices ��), some of the best smokes I ever had were siglos II, III and VI. This week I smoked a media siglo I bought a month ago and was very keen to try as it was my first time with it. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, it was bland beyond belief, almost as if I was a smoking warm air (this has happened to my once again with a Hoyo petit robusto) in addition the wrapper split when I was smoking it it and the whole thing unraveled when I had to remove the band. It was without exaggerating one of the worst cigars I ever had. I can only assume I must have been very unlucky with a bad stick but it has put me off a bit from this particular vitola considering I was also thinking of buying a full box.

Robusto or Siglo VI for me, of the ones I’ve had.

Siglo II - plugged
Siglo VI - all time favourite
BHK52 - OK
BHK54 - Better
Secretos - on the small side for me but pleasant otherwise.
CoRo - second only to the VI
Robustos Supremos - a bit strong, but I’d like another go.

I'd say the Robusto is the best place to start. It has the Cohiba flavour and complexity and is a good size for new smokers. It's a classic Cuban in my book.
