  • Sore throat and mouth

Similar symptoms to what I had sometime before have raised themselves again.
Sore tongue (like burnt on hot drink) permanently. Loss of taste, loosing voice when speaking, sore lump in throat making swallowing difficult.
Doctor has refered me to specialist ENT consultant.
Haven't smoked for some time and was a bit sore when I did.
As you can imagine I'm worried as the way my luck has gone in 2019 this could be another kick in the ...
Anyone else had similar which turned out to be non serious?

No I haven't, it does sound unusual but the Specialist should be able to reassure you, wishing all the best of health for you.

Sorry. Well at least it's terrible weather - beginning of summer would've been worse.
      Stay smoky

Oral thrush? Do you have a white tongue? The doc would have spotted that though?!?!

Well all the simple things I would have thought my Dr should have discounted before she referred me. Which is why it's worrying she referred me without any tests.

Asking Dr Google brings up something called burning mouth/tongue syndrome. Which has stress as a cause! Best of luck.
            .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Problem solved then, cancel the ENT Specialist appointment!
Actually that sounds a reasonable diagnosis, sure you have had plenty of stress this year but just to be sure I'd still see the Specialist but you ask him if he thinks that might be a cause. I'd start with 'a friend of mine had something similar...' rather than 'Dr Google says...' Everyone in the medical profession get's fed up with that line. And it used to just be Reader's Digest readers coming up with the weird & wonderful extreme diseases!
In the meantime, here are the suggested things to avoid, no surprise avoiding tobacco is one of them, as it does dry the mouth & no doubt an irritant. Hopefully once your life has settled & your divorce finalised, the stress will go away & you will be able to enjoy a cigar again but it doesn't sound like you'd actually enjoy one at the moment.

'You can do a few things that may help your symptoms as well:
              • Avoid acidic foods like tomatoes and orange and citrus juices.
              • Avoid alcohol, including mouthwashes with alcohol.
              • Avoid cinnamon and mint.
              • Avoid spicy foods.
              • Avoid tobacco.
              • Chew sugar-free gum (so you'll make more saliva).
              • Drink a lot of fluids.
              • Reduce stress with yoga or hobbies.
              • Stay socially active or join a pain support group.
              • Suck on crushed ice.'

P.S. I don't want to pry to far but the condition mentioned just below the burning tongue was:
'Does your penis curve when erect? It might be Peyronie?s disease'

So far I can't find any actual medical link between the two but I'll keep looking!!!!

                  Lol

Are you sure you were looking up causes of sore throat/tongue?

Burning mouth was what I thought of first but the Dr said in her opinion it didn't fit the throat issues.
Hope it's a simple issue or infection and that my todger doesn't end up looking like a boomerang.

Indeed. The throat maybe be a separate but concurrent condition (I get my throat problems from reflux & take Omperazole daily for it) or it might be something completely different but I think the advice given might help you tongue symptoms until you see the Specialist; the ENT specialist that is - here's sincerely hoping you won't end up at the GU Specialist as well!

Reflux was first diagnosis but taking gaviscon for a month had no impact. That doesn't mean it's not though and if it was just that I'd be quite ok.
