  • Vienna in Feb

    Hi all.

Off to Vienna in Feb. My forum Search only brought up things from a good few years ago and I thought a refresh might be useful...Anyone been recently and can advise on:
    - shops/LCDHs? Well-stocked? Prices?
    - any lounges?

    Thanks
    Gav

You’ll have a wonderful time, it’s one of my favourite cities. I would advise a visit to the Kempinski (indoor, delightful cigar lounge with waiter service) and there’s another bar just around the corner (American Bar? rings some sort of bell in my mind..?) A lovely chap called Arcan runs a nice little store and lounge not far from central too; if you have time, run a historical check on my name at the Cigar & Spirits magazine website; I’m sure I wrote a piece on Vienna for them many moons ago with the shop details in it.

If you have the time and inclination, try and catch a concert or some opera too, and a beer and a wurzt from a street seller...oh and some Wiener Schnitzel...and some wine from within the city walls...and and and...
    Happy travels.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, very much appreciated. I'll be sure to investigate your suggestions.
Yes it's the Mrs birthday so I have tickets to the Wiener Staatsoper! Verdi's Ottelo.

Amazing. You'll have a blast. Take your glad rags, they like to dress up. Best, N.

Just had a week in Vienna
Found a couple of shops one near st Stephens church probably the best however nothing of any interest for me prices are ok
Beer is good value and food otherwise place is wonderful but expensive
We did State opera house for ballet
Also an opera plus went to two other Venus for orchestra Did all the sights
Live music venue every night at Casablanca bar
And there is a great little cocktail bar based on Hollywood playing rat pack music

Unfortunately chaps, Vienna's laws are now such that you cannot smoke indoors, anywhere. Oh well. Thanks anyway! Still had a whale of a time.
