I liked Hyperion. It was a welcome change when I read it back in the day as I was deep into old school SF back then.

Piers anthony... almost all of his books! The incarnations of immortality series is special IMHO

Another welcomed side effect - my mate lives 30 mins drive away - no public transport option so I ride my motorbike over. A long way to go for 1 beer, but 1 beer (maybe a coffee too) and a cigar? deffo. Also his birthday tomorrow so I got him zippo with a golfer on (he golfs) and swapped the inner with a zippo butane insert, and got it engraved. I hope, and suspect that he will be very chuffed indeed. I have since wrapped it however

Cheers Geoff for that link, I have just ordered a Zippo insert for myself so I can use the Zippo's I collected in the RN, for the ships & bases where I served.

Great to get back into reading, I’m recently back into cigars which has meant back into reading, in particular this forum

Come winter though and I'm not sitting outside in this shite.

But I do fancy a cigar. Ooh I do have a shed though - maybe I could smoke in there.

Yes I can! Actually rather pleasant - even with the rain outside. No WiFi or 4g though so damn - I can't use my phone. Maybe that's a good thing though - I spend too long on it anyway. I'll read Nick's book. Wouldn't have discovered that without cigars, and this forum. I never really read, the phone is too tempting. The book is great!

3 more trips to my man cave over the week with the book and coffee (I prefer it to booze with a stogie) and this dingy little box is a real oasis of tranquility and enjoyment for me - I have rediscovered my love of reading.

Not to mention forum friends who have bombed me, and I enjoy chatting with.

Just an FYI on the unexpected side effects.

                Cheers

Wow. Thank you for the kind words, Geoff. To find out my book is at least a little bit responsible for getting you back into reading blows my mind. Reading and having a cigar is what I love doing best.
