Today I decided to smoke my second from the new Boutique Cigars, the Kafie 1901 Cigars San Jeromino Havana Natural torpedo at ?7.70. First impressions were very good, nice smooth wrapper that actually smells like milk chocolate. For the sake of tasting the cold draw I cut it before lighting contrary to my usual practice. The draw was very light, not quite a wind tunnel but looser than you expect from a Cuban. Same hints of milk chocolate but also a touch of white pepper on my lips. Once alight there was no pepper at all but for the first half inch it had a not entirely pleasant mineral taste that I initially put down to ignition fumes as it disappeared completely leaving no flavour at all for a little while. It eventually settled into a very mild tannic metallic flavour that I didn't really enjoy and I abandoned it with 2" to go. The burn was perfect with no corrections required but it did need a relight when I didn't give it my full attention because I answered the phone.
I won't be buying any more of these.
