Oh I was talking about the RA 898.

The LGC was nice but needs more time down. It?s a little harsh in the last third, quite bitter. Will revisit when they have turned the two year point in 7 or so months.

You didn?t manage to score a box? That sucks. I might be persuaded to let one go...

That’s more like it, sounds horrible

It can’t have been as bitter as I am about not getting any, but I think I’m too cheap to pick up a box. More regular production is where I’m parking my coin these days Mike.

              Way posher than JJ's.
What's the venting like? Is it like JJs or like No 1? As I find no 1 not great... especially when the lounge is full

                Thursday 19th February

                Trinidad Topes x 2

I need to start by saying that the Topes EL16 is one of my favourite cigars. However, I tried to be as objective as possible.

I started with the EL, smell and could draw were full of flavours and sweetness. Draw was maybe just a touch too loose to be perfect but it didnt bother me.
Construction was ok, flavours were fantastic. Most dominant flavours were a lot of sweetness, cocoa, and some kind of red fruit. Nice evolution throughout, I never got bored. With 3yrs of age, no harshness at any time and finished to the nub.

2 hours later I started the reg prod: wrapper was of course less Maduro than the EL but looked really nice. Construction is perfect, cold draw generates delicate flavours. Draw is perfect and as from the first puffs spot on. Flavours are more hazelnut, butter and as from the start quite peppery, but not in a way that its disturbing. In the second half, the cigar continues to be very pleasant but the pepper takes over more and more. Final third is the most disappointing but this will surely improve over the years. Great cigar for its age, I al sure this has a lot of potential.

All in all, both smokes were really nice, but I currently prefer EL.
If you are telling me the blend is the same for both versions, then the only thing i can say is: my backside, not the case

Pics follow. Edit to add pics.

It was very empty - pretty much only me after a while. But seemed very good.

Didn't think they would be the. Same...make the whole el program pointless.

It was very very nice and beautifully constructed. I don?t think it?s worth the U.K. price though which is extreme - but then what is!

No one noticed I?d put year of the pig instead of rat. Complete balls up of that post!!!
