Sad news. He seemed to go on and on. A real British hero. Amazing achievements and courage.

Pic, fittingly, is from the 1958 Cuban Grand Prix.

Indeed, you'll note he was in short sleeve order, due to the Cuban heat no doubt but clearly fireproof suits were needed as 19 F1 drivers were killed between 1954-64. Lucky he quite after a near fatal accident went on to live a pretty fantastic life afterwards, proving the is life after your original career. Let's raise a drink to him today.

Just looking at the Cuban Grand Prix route now that would be amazing to bring back as a classic car race but I can?t see it being too feasible sadly. A few mojitos and good cigars on the malecon watching that would be ideal!

Sure would & the locals would love it but politically never gonna happen.

Sad but he had an almost perfect life.
Chasing trophies and ladies in equal measure.
Good decision to quit when he did as it was only a matter of time before his luck would have run out.

Yep, working from home, great music and smoking at work. I did miss our herf though, the virtual thing has no appeal.

Indeed, it always amazes me all the sad devastated comments when someone dies at a ripe old age.

It's sad for us to hear a legend passing. I'd be happy going at 90 if I'd lived his life.

Getting to 90 as a racing driver of his era is incredible. The dangers of that era and the multiple near misses he had makes 90 quite the achievement.
