Some general advice would be to try everything and don’t necessarily be put off by something that’s not a “beginners” smoke. I didn’t enjoy coffee until my mid 20’s because everyone told me I should try it with lots of milk and sugar and I hated it, one day I tried it black and have been in love ever since, moral of the story what others say you should like is not always going to be what you will and you need to find that out for yourself through experimentation.
That's very true, actually. It didn't take me long at all (and quicker than I thought it would) to move from the milder smokes to the full bodied and really enjoyed them. Good start for these are a Partigas (as suggested elsewhere) or, my favourite (and the favourite of many), the full-on (reckoned to be the strongest Cuban), wonderful Bolivar Belicosos Finos. In for a penny...

Ok, so I'm about to put in my first order.

First off, I've gone for a cheaper cutter to start with - https://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/cgars-cig...ge-p-4422.html

As for the cigars, I think I'll go for the Montecristo No.4 and the H. Upmann Half Corona from the list of recommendations. These seem like two popular cigars to get me started and I have plenty of time to try the rest.

I came across this Camacho sampler, worth a punt next time? https://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/camacho-m...s-p-25278.html

Thanks for all the input so far guys.

I'm going to resist the temptations you have put before me.... You evil man

However, I suspect I'll be buying every recommendation and more within the coming months.... I've been reading how others on this forum started...... and before you know it they've got two industrial humidors and desperately searching for the third before they run out of room haha

Edited this post as I've found the information I was seeking.

For anyone interested I wasn't sure how I'll keep the cigars fresh. Reading the Beginner's Guide to Cigars on here has told me to leave them in the bags they come in until ready to smoke. I suspect they'll keep relatively fresh if I use them within 7 days.

O no...not another spurs supporter lol

I'm NW London...so no to far there are few of us on here ha_banos is quite near you...regarding cutter... Suggest just buy a good one off the bat...no point buying a cheaper one...as you will just end up buying a decent one very soon. Also you get cheap one through the orders anyway.

If you have budget in your order add a RASS (Ramon Alones Special select )and a partagas D4.

Haha sadly so I'm afraid!

I put the order in around 5 minutes ago, so I'll have to save your recommendations for the next order, but they are being added to the list as we speak.

My first cigar order:

Montecristo No.4
H. Upmann Half Corona
El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse

After taking a long hard look at the recommendations from ha_banos I decided to add the El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse Cigar. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'll wing it with this cutter for now and I suspect I'll be buying one in the not too distant future

Nice to know there are a few fellow North Londoners on here.

As for storage, at this stage you can?t go wrong with a Boveda 65% pack and a small Tupperware. That way they won?t dry out and will be in perfect smoking conditions when you do light up. I?d be amazed if these setup cost you more than ?15

Thanks for the advice. I've got a few days to sort this out, so I better get moving.

Hi Max, welcome in! I?m new too. Great place for advise and tips-

My favourite smokes so far are Cohiba, like your first stick.
I can?t fault any from this stable, but I?ve not tried them all.. Enjoy.
