  • Maduros questions...

Please could you lovely lot point me in the direction of a good cuban Maduro, something in regular production and easy to get hold of? Is there a must try Maduro and what can I expect in terms of flavour and strength?

    Thank you in advance

Cuban and Maduro don?t really go together. At least not compared to NC Maduro?s there are a few maduros that Cuba have produced but generally they don?t get the positive reviews that NC Maduros do. The Cohiba Magicos 5 is one, not sure of others. I imagine it?s because the Cuban plants don?t lend themselves that well to Maduro wrappers!

If you want some incredible Maduro NC?s, you won?t go wrong with Padron 1926 or 1964 or Fuente Anejo?s for top end premium. Failing that there are lots of NC?s with Maduro wrappers if you want to explore the NC world (I have and enjoyed them very much).

There's a few limitadas too. But not much in the Cuban space. NC is a different story as above!

The Partagas and Cohiba Maduros do have their fans however seem few and far between.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Maduro is very much all about the NCs I love them but can?t say I?ve ever had a Cuban Maduro or felt the need to search them out.

Is there something specific you?re hoping to get from these or just trying new things?

Maduro is not a Cuban ?thing?, but actually Quite a few Cuban LE?s actually sport Maduro wrappers also.
I?m one of the few fans of Maduros. If I should point you to your first Cuban Maduro get hold of a Partagas Maduro no 3, alternatively no 1 to try.

Thanks for setting me straight on Cuban vs NC maduros guys... I'll get a couple of singles and see how I find them.

Simwells- I'm not after anything specific but always interested in what I haven't tried. I know that some people love this wrapper so wanted to see what the fuss is about.

            Thanks again for the advice

Make sure you try at least one with a San Andreas wrapper (I love the CAO Brazilia for a reasonable priced smoke)

Talisman / CoRoSu - not strictly maduro, but the wrappers are exceptionally dark and give very similar characteristics. Sadly not RP though.
The Partagas Maduro no2 would be my suggestion for RP.
As far as NCs go, not all maduros are created equal.
In fact, a lot of the cheaper maduros seem to be just dyed leaf. Makes a mess of your fingers if nothing else.
There are, however, some excellent NC maduros, but you'll be paying nearly as much as a Cuban.
IMHO it's worth it, but there are others who insist if you're spending Cuban money, you should be buying Cuban...

Thank you all. I must admit I do find it hard to pay the same for NC cigars as I do do for Cuban. That said, NC is where I'll be looking based on the advice above

Padron 2000 Maduro is worth a try for an NC.

Most consistent Maduro for me has been the Partagas Maduro 1 and I just picked up a box of the Maduro 3 and can't wait to try them after the rest period....

I like the Arturo Fuente 858 maduro. Its mild and sweet and reasonably priced.

I quite like the Cohiba Madura 5 but in general but in general there is a wider range of NC Maduros. Fuente in particular
