So at about this point, I find there?s very little left to savour & enjoy. Gets hot, bitter and tart.

Does anyone continue with the hot burn? Is there much to be gained?

Not unless its a really good cigar that you can't put down. When it gets bitter bin it.

I agree with John - occassionally one gets a cigar that really hits the spot and one can't put it down... but otherwise, the moment it gets better that's me done

        The finish

I was holding on for as long as I could given it was a beauty. But I guess it?s like your dog.. it?s kinder to let it rest that to keep pushing on! [emoji23][emoji23]
I wonder if that?s where we coined the phrase-to the bitter end!!?

Funnily enough, other sticks can turn very quickly and sometimes too soon..

Purging the cigar usually helps delay the turn a while

And have you not come across nubbing a cigar yet? It's a thing. And many instruments and techniques have been derived.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Of what is this purge you speak of!?
Assume, leave to sit - even up & draw lightly?

Now! I remember Jim iny Cricket, with a tooth pick skewering the wee beastie. But by the time is a necessity, she too far gone I find

Purging is blowing firmly through the cigar to clear any nasty build up. When I started smoking cigars I Googled 'how to smoke a cigar' and discovered a lot. The one thing that stuck in my mind is to stop when the flavour changes to something you don't like. Like yours did.

Sometimes it also helps to put a flame to the tip when you purge as well (you?ll see the flame change colour briefly)

                          100% agreed!
Blow really hard through the cigar whilst holding a flame to end. All the may shit will ignite with a blue flame. Keep doing it until the blue flame dissipates....

This is what I do, I thought it was nonsense when I read it but it really does work, or is all a placebo. Either way I’m happy because I enjoy the cigar more after.
