  • Cigars - Drink & Snack Combinations

So today I had one of my first cigars and I forget to make myself a drink, which I feel took something away from the experience of sitting down and relaxing. Thinking about it more I wouldn't mind a snack either...

Out of interest what are your favourite drinks and snacks to have with your cigars? Doesn't need to have an alcohol content to be in the mix!

Looking forward to see where this goes.

Orange juice is the best according to an experiment on another popular cigar forum, they laughed before trying it, I laughed before trying it but it’s a bloody good accompaniment.

A good palate cleanser with a natural sugar content I'd imagine

You will find that food leaves a residue in your mouth that can affect the taste of the smoke, both positively and negatively, try it. The best one is vanilla ice cream. Big spoonful of ice cream then draw on your cigar (after swallowing)

I’ve never eaten while smoking but I love eating certain foods after (mainly red meat), it just seems to intensify the flavours to me.

Coffee first with all my cigars (purists, especially blind tasting only have water but that doesn't do anything for me). Belgian Beers, Red wine & Whiskey or rum should cover all your needs

Full bodied red, rum, cognac, malt whisky. I do like an old fashioned or a manhattan with a cigar, bit like with the rum sweetness and a decent cigar do go together well. Snacks wise I do like dark chocolate, but also love some olives to graze on. Tbh the list is endless

Drinks, and really depends on the time of day and my mood a good coffee (full flavoured and black is always good as is a beer. I also love a good single Malt or three or a good Rum. As far as snakes go, olives, salted almonds, anchovies anything savoury, or chocolate is always good.

Drinks for me are normally coffees if earlier, a decent pint but that can mean all sorts as cigars can really bring out the flavours in a pint depending on what it is. Anything rum based or more ?adult? soft drinks that aren?t overly sweet but aren?t diet.

Snacks for me is normally something like nuts, pork scratchings or something heavily salted or dark chocolate

Beer and single malt whisky chaser is my usual go to. I really like a lot of the new style fruity IPAs, especially the Plunged Orange Pale Ale from Lidl and any Highland or Speyside malt whisky. Salted peanuts or pretzels or a Graze snack box is a good snack choice.

                              That definitely sounds worth trying.
