What's keeping you sane during lockdown

I kind of like it....

No shopping. No visiting.

The weather and cigars is a godsend.

I realise I'm lucky enough to still be working through this time. So that obvs helps pass the time.

As our illustrious gvt get things moving again.. I'm lucky to be able to continue from home. So no commuting for the rest of the year I reckon.

Illustrious? I?ll assume sarcasm...

I can?t say I?m a fan, can?t wait to get back to being in work and proper business again. Luckily I?m still working just from home for the coming months but it?s not for me, won?t complain as at least I?m working, busy and getting paid though!

Main thing keeping me sane right now is cooking and food, have enjoyed putting more effort and time into cooking and properly enjoying cooking at home for a change. Otherwise properly should have been more productive with the last 6 weeks really!

I know a load of folk into are cooking more! Wish we could. We've had no kitchen since Xmas due to a leak. Works halted at lockdown. House is a right mess as a result. But we've found a way through. Certainly been a source of stress though. Thankfully good weather and BBQ helps too!

I'm loving WFH full time too. Video conferences galore at times... Small global team anyway. But seems to be working out! There's no way I'm getting on a tube any time soon...

Sadly my other half quit smoking at the start of this and I still feel kind of selfish smoking in front of her so it?s been a few weeks especially as we?re in a flat. Can?t be too long now til I can catch up though

Sorry to hear about your kitchen Banos, can't have been easy living like that for nearly 6months. My main problem is being separated from my wife; I am coping but she has been off work since Aug & having improved a lot (up until we returned from the cruise), when I get home in on the 22nd, I'll have been away for 9wks. That'll be the longest we have been separated since we were married.

I am working & stuck out int he middle of the North Sea life is fairly quiet. We have 2/3 the normal number of persons onboard but twice as many as the rest, we are the biggest asset left the the UK Sector, normally 190. Staying with my daughter has saved me being in a hotel 2/52 before coming offshore & as our American friends would say, we have been spending quality time together. Apart from holidays we haven't spent more than a week together since she went to Uni at 18yo. She's now 27yo & has grown & matured so much, it's been really interesting to hear her working from home & dealing with clients. When they have a business Zoom call, her boss asks how I am doing too, then I leave for a walk.

What helps me keep sane? Well walking the occasional smoke & of course this fine site. The way ahead? Well Boris finally bringing in some boarder control is going to bug*er me up personally. Originally Shell wanted us to be int he country 2wks before going offshore. They have now dropped that, accepting the risk is similar in most places now but if the UK implement this 2 wk quarantine, I'll have to return to Bournemouth for 2 wks every leave, leaving very little time at home (normal rota is 2 wks on & 3 wks off). So I have arranged with my back to back, that he covers my next shift & I'll cover his next one. So I should get 6wks at home & 2 with Grace. How long we have to keep that up who knows?

The one thing that will be improving for me is both Belgium & UK will be allowing fishing shortly. As you may know, pike fishing is my original passion & yes, smoking the ocassion cigar on the river bank is something & am really looking fwd too. It's pretty hopeless in Belgium but in Dorset, there are the River's Test & Stour. Both superb pike waters, although the Test can't be pike fished until Nov 1st, somehow I think I might get to fish there if this continues until Christmas. To make this work I'll need a car & will ask Grace to put me on her insurance. This way her car will be run & I get out of her hair for the day & I'll be back in time to cook the dinner for us.

Well I finished working at Christmas and decided to take a 6 month break - which as it happened seemed to be an enforced break what with lockdown etc...- work has all but dried up anyway. My son is at risk from this virus as he has Downs Syndrome, and to be honest spending just 5 minutes in his company would keep anyone sane in the greater scheme of things. I have enjoyed the time out and have found lots of jobs to do around the house, cycling some days, and walking the dogs has really kept me both fit and sane. The only frustration has been like Simon unable to get out and do any fly fishing. Hopefully that may change soon though.....

I've done more cooking, going out for runs, some reading and thankfully the new world of cigars has given me a lot to look into. Also, I've been fortunate that a group of friends have been doing weekly Zoom quizzes, that's been a good laugh. Work has completely come to a halt here, unsure when that's going to be picking up again. I could have used this lockdown time more effectively, but at the same time it's been a welcomed break and a rare opportunity to recharge.

I keep seeing some of you talking about fly fishing, I have been in and out of the Orvis shop by Piccadilly Station and keep promising myself to learn to fly fish as it looks like a fantastic way to spend a warm weekend during fishing season. I'll have to pick some of your brains once I'm bestowed with pm powers

I don't have any hair to pull out. I'm not climbing up the walls, which is actually annoying as rock climbing is a hobby of mine.

As per banos the weather, cigars, and forums like this keep me sane. And booze and drugs of course [emoji1787][emoji16]

My dogs are cool. Been on a few mtb rides. No kids. Working from home just fine, can't complain. Bit of chipping in the garden to improve my golf.

To be honest, the impact of lockdown on me has been minimal - I'm a key worker so been going to work as normal

My daughter not being at school is the only issue, but that is working itself out now, she keeps herself busy and we still spend time in the garden and going for our daily walk so its not like she is inside the whole time

Saying that, I am looking forward to shops getting back to normal again
