Tried them in the early days and thought they were not too bad(of course compared to, lets just say a cigar named after a city in Brazil, but as i progressed through the brands there is no way i would smoke another. There are of course alot worse cigars out there!! A man has to gain experience somehow.

I don't believe it is, apparently an American cigar company based in Florida (by the name of the Guantanamera Cigar Company) is currently in court proceedings with Habanos SA over a trademark issue. It's also strange that C.Gars ltd would say there was a new cigar out this year.

Trev, that appears to be the same wording from the link Dave posted, and I believe it's wrong.

It's Trevor's website I took it from Chris.
[EDIT] Trevor's site specifically refers to the Cuban Guantanamera. Sounds like there's another then!
[EDIT2] The cgars website does have it in the Cuban cigars section and it does mention Vuelta Arriba which is in Cuba. Hmmm.

I'm just struggling to see why a vendor would say it's new for this year, from a company that apparently stopped in 2005 It's all very confusing Especially as there's still a lot of places selling them.

EDIT: The other Guantanamera is an American brand, and looks nothing like the Cubans.

I've tried one or two back in my early days but the were pretty crappy. I ended up with lots of bits of baccy in my gob. Avoid if you find them

Please Chris can you refrain from swearing on the forum, we don't tolerate the use of that G word.

Got some off a work mate from Cyprus, tried 1 gave rest away to enemies(those who ain't got a clue). the empty box came in handy to use for the stick a stick in though.
I started out with nothing and i've still got most of it left - Seasick Steve

                Hi Chris,

As the website says, "It was deleted from Habanos portfolio in circa 2005."....that is, the brand was deleted....the company never "stopped".

The website also agrees it is still made...."Currently made by "Internacional Cubana de Tabacos S.A." under licence to Habanos SA"

A check of the Habanos SA website will show that Guantanamera is no longer listed as one of their brands. http://www.habanos.com/vitolario.aspx?lang=en

                    Mystery solved then

Either way, I don't think I'll be bothering. It's a bit naughty that some websites show the Guantanamera packaging with the Habanos band still on though.

They may still be left over from 2005 Chris.

Are they meant to be plastic or is it a case that I not only have a dodgy cigar but a fake one at that? I did get it from cgars.co.uk?
