  • Just got my counterfeit cubans!

Hey guys. I opened my new box of d4's to find that they are most likely counterfeits. The box looks real, but there are some problems with the smokes and some of the packaging. For instance:

-The first cedar insert has a stamp that is not perfectly centered.
-The cigars are off-colour from my genuine d4's.
-The wrappers have the right gold but the red is too red and not slightly purplish like the real ones.
-A few wrappers are not properly glued together...meaning the two ends don't meet parallel to one another.

Unless Partagas has been hit hard by the recession and is changing their product, I am pretty sure these are fakes. They taste pretty good, but I am really not enthused about proudly owning fake cigars. I really hope the other companies I buy from are legit two, cause now I am worried. I will post pictures soon, when I find my camera and learn how to post them!

Now that is a bummer. If it turns out they are fakes are you gonna name and shame?

Try some cigar surgery on one and take pics of that as well.

I'm not going to name and shame just yet. I have to get pics. Won't be till tonight I'm afraid. I'm on top of it though.

It's a shame if these are fake, cause the site is so well-done. First purchase from this place as well. I sure hope I'm mistaken.

These sound just like the D4s I bought recently. I'll see if I can post pictures also to get opinions before naming.

(edit) camera battery is on charge, photos soon)

                          Hi Skyhigh,

The box in your picture is actually identical to mine. The reason I questioned if mine were genuine was because they application of the band is very scrappy for the most part, the ends don't perfectly overlap on alot of the bands and some have white patches as if they've been stuck together and pulled apart so that the red on the label has been pulled off.

I did get the habanos leaflet in mine too so maybe I'm just worrying for nothing. Perhaps Partagas just don't have such strict quality controls on the banding of their cigars recently? (he asks hopefully...)

                          pics to follow

Don't forget pictures of the box, seals and all (one with the lid closed preferably) which will help identify a degree of authenticity Morris.

is it posted somewhere that we're not allowed to discuss sourcing?
