Aye, you're a natural. I almost went for an ode myself, but I think yours is a perfect expression of the agony of existing without an 898. I don't know how you BOTLs stand it, really.

Ahh Soulman look what you've started!

You've even managed to bring the poet out in eggy (Fine work by the way).
Tried unsuccessfully to get hold of a couple today, darn it.
I better get my finger out now, hadn't I.

I know it's to do with the box being varnished or unvarnished, and that this supposedly affects the taste as they age in the box (varnished providing a better aging environment), but having never tried an 898 I couldn't say anything more.

898 is on my list, and one day I shall own one (but not for very long )

And can I just say that I thought this was a wonderfully passionate review, Soul, and a beautiful poem, eggy. I'm moved by the proficiency with which the English language is wielded on this forum

I can't claim any credit for this one, just combining posts from tippexx and soul earlier in the thread:

                  8-9-8 Barnizados Dalia 170 x 43 "Varnished"

8-9-8 Sin Barnizar Corona Grande 155 x 42 "Unvarnished" (no longer in production)

So the unvarnished is slightly smaller and no longer in produciton (I think someone also mentioned that they stopped production in 2002 - apologies for forgetting who mentioned it... )

I may have to try these. Anyone know if the 10 box is 3-4-3 packed?

Anyone gotten around to these revelations yet? No? Hmmm, maybe I should have one whilst I wait to hear back on your most difficult search?

Wait, wait, your situation reminds me of something, you searching Brits...almost have it...it's........it's

I wonder if the plugged ones are those that are out of production. I've been smoking the varnished Dalias: http://www.cigars-review.org/Flor-de...Barnizados.htm

Haven't had a plugged one yet, and they are from the 08/09 period of production.

The Coronas Gordas are of the older, out-of-production format: http://www.cigars-review.org/Flor-de...n-Barnizar.htm

Thank you soul - very tenuous link I think you've concocted there between our search for 8-9-8's and Arthur's quest for the Holy Grail... However tenuous though, I thank you - any opportunity to see such a classic exchange as that is to be greatly received.

I fart in your general direction. (Just not all that funny - until John Cleese dresses up as a mad, French, medieval solider and says it in the most ridiculous accent known to man...)

I suppose I'm always looking for a reason to use a Python reference, and I thank you for the vaguely wafting fart.

But I beg to differ; it is not tenuous given that this is the Holy Grail of cigars, methinks.

Oh, I've no doubt that the 8-9-8 ranks up with the greatest of religious relics, but not quite with the Grail. Surely that would be a status reserved for something of far more mythological status - like a genuine glass-topped Cohiba box...
