Although most FOGs prefer the more elegant 8-9-8, I have not had one since '07 that was better than average. Currently the '10 PSP #2 are smoking very strong, as befits a young cigar, but they have a great essence of the pepper strength that many Partagas fans love.
The PSP #2 10ct boxes are a very good option.

    Enjoy your Habanos
    Cheers

Just that you mentioned your new to cigars, so investing in a box of cigars that you haven't tried before might be an expensive mistake.

Good advice. This is probably the best advice on the thread.

Dammit, I really need to try a Party. Can you believe I've never had one? I've got a petit corona especiales sitting in my humi: maybe I'll have that as my Bonfire Night treat

Oh, and my $0.02 is to buy 898s. Although I've never tried one (see above), I understand that they are discontinued. Buy them before they're gone!
I'm still waiting for the whiskey to whisk me away
And I'm still waiting for the ashtray to lead me astray

Are you really recommending a stick you have never tried, there are sticks discontinued every year, perhaps you should recommend them too

Don't mean to sound too harsh just read a bit odd to me

That is what I would do first .... a sort of least expensive test-drive!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Hey, no one ever said I gave sound advice

Alls I'm saying is that if I was in a situation where I was deciding between the 898 and the P2, knowing that the 898 was discontinued would influence my decision.

I don't think the guys are talking about a discontinued cigar Bambini.

I think they're referring to the 898 Varnished ... a Lonsdale (Dalias) 43 x 170 which is still current production.

I think you mean the 898 Un-varnished 42 x 155 which is discontinued, but still reasonably available.
If you want to, you can.

Who said the 898s were discod?

Surely you are not looking at unvarnished, that would be a horse of a different color

You can't go wrong with either the 898 or the P2. Both are cracking smokes.

Cheers everyone, the responses have come in fast and I'm not sure yet which will win out and will probably only decide next friday when pay day arrives.

Oops, my mistake. I had it in my head that both 898s were discontinued. I'll get my coat...

I prefer the 8-9-8V to the P2 myself. But the P2 is very popular.
