I had a box of Gold medals. Didnt like them at all and gave half the box away in bombs. I'm gutted now as thinking about them the may have just been in the sick period.

oh dear, poohbore!!! admittedly, my first one knocked me for 6, i had to take a second charge just to finish it!!! fast forward a few months and now i'm loving them!!! they are strong, but then again, i normally only smoke a cigar in the evening after i've had my dinner and a couple of coffees in me, so i'm well prepared, lol!!! it seems that the same story is told about the cuaba EL2008, some folk hated them when they came out, now they seem to be smoking great and those who passed them on are kicking themselves!!! the gold medals i have are from 2007, so 3 years has possibly done wonders for them!!!

I had a few issues with the cuaba too. But following someones review on here recently I got the parents to pick me up 2 boxes in cuba. Smoked the first yesterday and it was superb

Got to agree, hated the Cuaba when it was young, now it is great.

I am now getting to the point where I simply don't want even to try a new stick until it has had a couple of years ...easier said than done though

Couldn't agree more. They've aged great!

As a matter of fact young Gold Medals are not very pleasant. With 2 years of age it's a different, much better cigar?

                  +1 for the GM.

To me the 898V are stronger with a similar taste profile to the P2, whilst the GM is richer and smoother.

898NV I've never had much luck with, less ligero methinks.
