  • Thoughts on the Cohiba Robusto...

    All,
As I sit here in the Frankfort airport passing the time through a major snow storm, I wanted to ask a question:
I just picked up a box of Cohiba Robustos Apr 09. Has anyone had them?
    Your thoughts?

No ploaces to smoke here unless I want to stand by Frosty outside...Been like this the entire week!
    DB Out!

I only tried 1 and it was amazing imo but it was a 2006.

If you dont mind, how much did you pay for a cab of 25?

Very good price, I would expect to pay ?200 for a box when I go abroad (roughly). I only ever smoked one, at the Lanesborough, the least overly priced thing there oddly. Did not care for it and never gotten around to giving it a second chance.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

Ive only smoked one, so not the best person to judge. It did nothing for me and I dont plan to try another one anytime soon.

I bought a pack this year and smoked one. I think that was a mistake and I ought to have allowed them a bit longer. So, Jury's out until this time next year at least.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Smoked a few, v good sticks, typical almondy taste of a Cohiba, but I'd still take a PSD4 over one.

I love them with 2-3years plus on them (ideally 5-10) but have found them quite unpleasant young! Indeed it is not uncommon for people to be put of Cohibas for life after smoking one too young.

Price is good but really you need to lay them down before you will get close to seeing what they should be like.

Don't know why (something to do with the blend I guess) but to my taste they are no good young where as a 1-2 year old D4 can (sometimes) be very good.

Something to note then; ensure they have age.

They're good smokes but I'd put most robustos ahead of them ERdM, JL2, RASS etc, etc

                        Senor Monkeyboy is spot on!

Umm. Me and the Coros have smoked a ton of these and always keep a few boxes aging in don TJ's massive unit.

Hmmm, wise words from wise-guy senor serious.

But then again, that can be said for a large portion of the puro population - the older the better!

Hey el Perro! When did the serious one become such a puro sage???

I not long ago finished a dec 08 box that was absolutely beautiful from start to finish..damn fine cigars!!
Having said that, I bought a nov 08 cab a couple of months ago and my couple of samples of it so far have been not particularly nice at all so its gonna sit at the back of my humi for another year or so until it behaves.

One of my top robustos, smooth smoke, stunning wrappers and looks ace in the hand.

Had a 25 cab from 2006, none left, much sadness

One of my favourite "treat" Robusto's. Yeah, some age is needed but the butterscotch and almonds flavours are one hell of a play.
