  • I'm confused .... I read

conflicting reports of them being mild, others medium and some BOTL consider them strong. I did try to buy one today to find out for myself .... but our Retailers seem to be out.

Just what is the flavour/strength profile of .... Bolivar Gold Medal?

Of the two i smoked i found them to be very smooth and after initial impressions i would say they are medium strength but it is during smoking when they kick in and it goes from medium to medium strong. The are deceptive because they are so smooth and creamy the strength sneaks up on you and they aren't the typical Bolivar flavour profile. Very pleasant, had a difficult time putting a finger on the overall flavour but settled for the toasted sugar on top of a creme de caramel. Definitely worth trying, i have one left but a few more on the way hopefully. It would go perfectly at the end of a nice meal as a kind of dessert cigar. I think i have just decided what my post Christmas lunch pre TV fest cigar will be lol.

            hey arf,
you know i'm a sucker for bolivars, these are (at the moment) my favourite of the brand!!! they are quite strong, so make sure you have something decent to eat before hand and if possible, smoke in the evening, when your palette is 'well adjusted'!!! i would even advise having a couple of cans of coke at the ready in case the wooziness kicks in, lol!!! but seriously, if i had to sum up in 3 words, it would be:
            rich
            creamy
            strong

just the way i like my men..........

it's a fantastic cigar, my neighbour has always passed positive comments on the aroma when i've been out back smoking one, so that's a good sign!!!!

              Fantastic build as they progress.
              I'd say strong and smacking.

I love the GM''s and CIV beat me to the offer.

I think these are smooth and real builders in the strength dept, I love them, one of my go to smokes.

I think another stick that suffered a little in the reputation dept by people smoking them when the current release came out in 2007 when (by all accounts) they were pretty nasty.

Gotta say those 2007's are smoking great now (let me know CIV :-) )

A really kind offer from CohibaIV, and much appreciated .... but, the Gov'nor had already covered it.

                  Thanks Deano.

I would say, smooth, med-full, consistently good, with perfect balance. These cigars probably finish as well as any current, or recent Habano. They are the stars of the Boli line. Look out for the '07 boxes which have been exceptionally fine, and are smoking perfectly, at the moment.

                    Cheers

Medium bodied. Leather. One of the most elegant Bolivar's I've smoked. Wish I had more.

Medium smoke with a better draw than most cigars of this size/RG. First box I bought after the re-release was the best, the others have been good but something about that first box-code.
