This has been my first year smoking cigars so I really am a novice, and I only smoke 1 or 2 a week but for what it's worth my favourites so far I think have been the Trinidad Robusto Extra and Cohiba Siglo IV, with honourable mentions to Bolivar Royal Corona and Cuaba Generosos.

        Choices!

Last year I ran a simple cigar of the year thread which resulted in a comp to win what came out top. Last years winner was the Monte Sublime.

Well it's that time of year again so looking for nominations. The cigars with the most nominations will go to a poll and one will be crowned the UKCF Cigar of the year 2010.

So please nominate what you think has been the cigar of the year, regardless of size or origin or release.

Please try to keep it to one or two nominations.

I'll get the ball rolling and nominate

El Rey del Mundo Grandes de Espana

Very smooth and evolved to a spectacular finish.

        Partagas Serie D Especial

I've had a few of these and they have been nothing short of great to me. Consistent and great flavours. I'd describe it as a longer smoothed out D4.
Have to agree on the ERDM Kdot. They are outstanding if you are a fan of the ERDM.
juan Lopez No2 from 2008 were hard to beat, and the Cohiba Sublime I was gifted by Stevieboy was well named, superb smoke.

        So many choices.

Best for me this year were a couple of 'Ramon Allones Specially Selected' and a 'Bolivar Royal Corona'
I enjoyed these at a wedding in July at Combe Abbey in Coventry.A balmy summer evening, sitting outside smoking and supping.
What a fantastic place that was.

Had some good smokes this yr inc my oldest - Flor de F.Farach, my longest smoke, Cuaba Diademas, a Party 109 from Hamburg & a couple of my own aged Boli CG's. But my best is the Cohiba Piramide 2006 that I smoked last Saturday. Truely awsome smoke. I have actually smoked less this yr than th eprevious two, mostly due to less suitable opportunities but the quality has been higher than ever & nearly every stick has been a treasured moment.

Two I think worthy, not special, cost a fortune, celebration smokes, just excellent everyday, reliable smokes.

Bolivar RC :- Good, reliable, full of flavour. Never disappoints.

Partagas SD4 :- Close 2nd as an everyday smoke, for mostly the same reasons.

The Partagas SD4 Especiale was a contender but, as only smoked 2 so far, felt unfair to include it.

As a relative newbie I'm probably not qualified to comment on this but my favourite so far is the R&J No3 Tubo followed by a Cohiba Esplendido.
I'm looking forward to discovering more especially if it tops these two.

Go for it Whisky77, IMHO Cohibas always benefit from some age, 4-5yrs but after that some flav fades & although 10-20 stix are great too, they are different.

For me the best this year was the Swiss JL Maximos RE. Each one has been utter perfection. I've smoked nearly a whole box in the last 18 months and thankfully I have another sleeping...

Forgot all about these steevie. I've only ever smoked the one and it was amazing. I've been meaning to get a box, but never got round to it.

I'll go with Cuaba Exclusivos. I was really amazed (and a little shocked) at how good this unsung cigar was!

                            hey all,
a late runner in my no.1 cigar for 2010........

                            H UPMANN SIR WINSTON (2008)

a f**king FANTASTIC cigar!! rich, creamy, aromatic..... flawless!!! bliss!!! IMO the best churchill i've had to date (yes, i've had cohiba esplendidos, 10yr old ryj's, HDM'S and punch's, none of them compare to a 2 year old sir winston)!!!

matt (mb55317), if you're reading this, i can't thank you enough for sorting me out with these!!!

                            all the best,

                            alex

I am opting for sticks I have tried for the first time this year, an obvious selection but they have made me happy

                              1) HDM Petit Robusto - these get my vote due to their consistency

                              2) Alec Bradley Tempus Imperator

                              3) R&J Short Churchill
