I'm fine. Just tend to get a bit pissed at closed minded members on forums, not just this one. I've also been busily bullshitting on two other forums so havent been here a lot.

As a closed minded, opinionated member of this forum I want to say to one and all that I respect everyones right to be wrong

I think the lower temp and humidity is about mid-term ageing (1-20 years) and not so relevant to short term stock shop. Most cigar retailers have a slightly different environment in there retail area to their storage/ageing area.

For me both the Monte PE and the Reyes are great, I also love a PLPC (but they always need some years), RASCC and the Mag 48EL (but as these are so good now I do wonder if they will age well?).

Is anyone else having trouble viewing this video, when I click on the link it says it's only available on JamesSuckling.com.

In fact has anyone visited the site? I like James, always liked his video's for Cigar Aficionado etc, but after visiting his site, it looks like if you want to view his video's on cigars and wine (my two favourite passions) you have to subscribe for nearly $150 a year, which in my opinion, if that's the case, is taking the piss, seeing sites like Cigar Aficionado and Decanter magazine show great video's for free.

                  Anyone else have an opinion?

played fine for me and yes $150 is not an attractive price. that said, he promomises one video per day.

$50 us a year sounds more resonable to me.

and to Aussiewaz, thank you for the offer, I now know who to send my address to when stock runs low.

Something I don't understand is why cigar reviews are so varied; why can't we agree on certain major points.

Suckling says the Reyes is spicy? How can that be? Is he smoking it too fast? Every Reyes I've had is like smoking chocolate. Rich and smooth. Spicy is the last way I'd describe it.

i have a box of 24, the first 2 i smoked tasted mroe spicy then any small cigars I have ever taste, i think this might be becuase each cigar is different. all reviews are only for a particular stick at particular time with particular age and at particular condition.

that's why the fun ! and the agruments.

i still have 22 to go through, any one with different Reyes want a swap? mine with box code SEP 2008

Another reason, if one belive all Reyes taste very simlar. Then it might be cause it was being compared directly A/B with a less spicy cigar, the PE. I never know new world wine is so sweet until one day i A/Bed it with a good french boardaux. I think u are kind of tasting and describing the 'difference' rather then tasting and describing the 'full taste', if you understand what i mean. apply to testing cars too.

                            hey sean,
i agree with vision!!! i've smoked about 30 trini reyes this year, and the last way i'd describe them is 'spicey'!!! sweet, chocolatey, creamy, herby, and strangest of all...... liquorice!!! rich and smooth definitely!!! btw, i've had trini reyes from '08 & '09, both have been great!!! if anything the trini reyes are great smoking right from the box, IMO!!!

all cigar reviews are subjective and down to each person's own particular taste and experience!!! however, i have to disagree with your reasoning:

"....this might be becuase each cigar is different. all reviews are only for a particular stick at particular time with particular age and at particular condition.

that's why the fun ! and the agruments."

i've never had two same sized cigars from the same brand 'taste different'!! cuba's quality control may be a bit 'random' sometimes, that's more to do with the cosmetic appearance and condition of the sticks, not usually the taste (well, that's my experience)!! if i choose to smoke a trini reyes or monte PE, it's because i know what i'm going to expect taste ways!!! i think it all comes down to what point of the day you smoke it, after your pallet has been suitably adjusted from eating and drinking...... that would perhaps effect the taste and strength (example, i would never smoke a bolivar before lunch time)!!!

                            all the best,

                            alex

i smoked my 2 reyes 9am in the morning. may be that's why.

i am going to have another one this weekend, possibly 9am again. let see how it taste this time. it wasnt very spicy but it was more spicy then what i expect from the brand, i expect, none. maybe its the format. i don't know.

I bought my box based on recommendation from my brother who only enjoy smooth and elegant things in life, he said this is the smoothest small cigar there is. so without tasting one, i ordered a box and I am a bit dissappointed. let me taste a few more before I come to conclusion. now i have had it for a few weeks and am sure the storage is ok, I should taste again to see.
