  • Epicure 1 vs 2

I am a big fan of the Hoyo epicure No2, but I can't really find any up for sale atm, so I was wondering how it compares to the epicure No1. Has anyone smoked both ? What are the differences/similarities ?

I would have to say I prefer the No2 but the No1 is perhaps a little milder but if you like the No2 you'll probably enjoy the No1 as well. They sell then in packs of three so you can try them out before buying a cab. Let us know whether you enjoyed one or not.

I completely agree with S.B. the epi 2 is far richer and possesses a good amount more complexity, but the epi 1 always deserves a whirl, I see it more as a late afternoon cigar rather than one which will take you into the early hours with its complexity like the epi 2.

And while we're at it, the Epi Especial is a fabulous cigar for the money IMHO

I'm a big HdM fan and enjoy both the 1 and 2 situationally.

The 1 being a morning/afternoon smoke had with a coffee and the 2 being more of an after dinner smoke with a fine liquor.

Epi 2 for me too - for the reasons given by Simon Bolivar - although both are certainly at the lighter end of the spectrum.

Like Simon I think the No2 is my favourite of the two, although that is not to belittle the No1, it is still a great smoke IMO.

I am smoking the epi 1 as I write. Pretty much exactly as you guys have described it. It could be looked at as a tamer version of the epi 2, which is one of my all time fave cigars. Unfortunately for me it suffers in the comparison, its a bit too light flavourwise even though you get hints of all the flavours found in the epi2.

I had some well aged '01 Epi 1's from Ajay (from a cab of 50) and they were stunning. Not a regular smoke for me but one of my smokes of the year!
I think there was a big change in the blend/factory with Hoyo's somewhere in the last 10 years and it seems everything pre-chenge is better. T, can you expand on this?
