Tax...buying via internet Q

Evening all!

Could someone please tell me how Customs & Excise work out how to shaft us good and proper please? I am not sure if it is by the quantity, weight or cost of the cigars.

Every which way they can - ie by all of the above (including the cost, but not weight, of post & packing): tobacco duty, import duty and VAT on the total.

Thanks for the reply. I got hit for ?140 on 50 cigars. I'm considering going Geneva and carrying back 50.

hey there mickey me ol' mucker....... if i were you i'd read the forum rules before you incur the wrath of the moderators!!!! discussion of buying from outside the UK is strictly prohibited on this forum for obvious, legal reasons!!!

Yeh u need to pay your tax. There are ways of doing it but it can be a bit of a mare...let me find the thread...
