How many of you are regular smokers of cigarettes?
How many of you are regular smokers of cigarettes?
Was just thinking about this and more to the point if you were going to enjoy a good cigar maybe in the evening, would you put off smoking cigarettes for the day as I was wondering if cigarettes could mask certain flavours of cigars.
I ditched the filthy tabs some time before I started smoking cigars. Often got caught out with having a crafty/drunken ciggy but since I've been smoking 1-3 cigars a week I've not felt the urge (drunken or otherwise) to smoke another cig...
I quit smoking nearly 5 years ago and have been enjoying cigars for about 2 years. I was initially concerned that I would become addicted tot he nicotine again and that old habbits would return but thankfully being a slave to cigarettes and enjoying the hobby of cigars have become 2 totally seperate things for me.

I had given up cigarettes for eight years until my good lady went to Spain to visit her parents. I came out of work one evening, stopped to get some petrol and for the life of me I can't think why, but purchased 5 Hamlet cigars. this was around 4 years ago and have now been back on cigarettes ever since.
I really enjoyed smoking cigarettes for about 15 years and when we started to plan our family I decided to stop. I actually stopped smoking cigarettes at noon on 21st January 1997.
I avoided cigars for a long time as I, like others, thought that I would be tempted to go back to cigarettes.
I went to Cuba last year and thought that I really ought to try the local delicacy and have smoked one or two a week since I returned without any thoughts of cigarettes.
For me cigars are an occasional treat to accompany a peaceful hour sat outside with a drink rather than a must to get me to the next smoke and I think that is the real difference for me.
Only when out drinking with the lads, always been that way since i was about 14! Somehow I think I manage to always feel so terrible the morning after that a cigarrette was the last thing I wanted!
Very much prefer the slow process of nicotine absorption from a cigar, I think I read a study somewhere that concluded that the quick hit of nicotine from a ciggie raised the heart rate, blood pressure etc, where the slow steady absorption from a cigar had a relaxing effect... Plus a pack of fags costs nearly as much as a pretty good cuban these days!!
Nope, dont smoke cigarettes, never will. Ive had the odd one here and there, but never interested me. Both my parents are HUGE smokers, so I think growing up, that put me off enough!
I smoked 40 per day for nearly 23 years gave up when I came back from the States in early 2009, then went to Johannesburg for 2 months in Nov 09 and was offered cigars all the time......I was terrified it would start me off again so I refrained.
Then tried my first cigar in Early 2010.
Note: I had given up cigarettes in Late 2007 and started smoking cigars which pushed me straight back onto cigarettes Hence my trepidation.
All good though.
