Guantanamo Decimo (bought in Cuba last Xmas).
I'm pretty sure Decimo just refers to the fact that they were in boxes of 10, they are 4" long with a gauge of around 30.
Guantanamo are machine made and cheap, and look like it; a little rough around the edges but still a Cuban and still a good 40 minute smoke. The one I smoked tonight has been in the humidor for 12 months and was ready to be enjoyed.
The cut was clean, no flakes and I only had to fish a couple of bits of it out of my mouth during the smoke. The light was easy and it burned evenly all the way.
This is where my amateur status as a smoker will shine through, the tasting report.
The first third was very mild, it tasted like fresh mown hay with a hint of spice, it was quite cool smoke and as the second third came in I got a taste of wood and a lot more spice. As expected the smoke was hotter but stayed mild. At this point I was well relaxed and the black Russian I had as an accompaniment was also kicking in. Maybe because of my choice of drink I didn't pick up any chocolate or coffee in the final third, but I'm not convinced my palate is that refined yet. The final third, and I removed the band and smoked well past where is used to be, was mild to medium, spicy and a lot hotter, as would be expected. Even the last couple of tokes weren't bitter, it maintained the same flavour till the end.
A thoroughly enjoyable, cheaper end, smoke and it has benefitted the time in the humidor out of the cellophane.
