A year's nothing really. It's certain that no amount of time making up for it in a humi will make them as good as they would have been in a humi from the start, but i know of cases where people have tried to revive them (and somewhat succeeded) after twenty years of complete oblivion.

We often make cigars out to be so delicate when they're not so. The best cigar i ever had (by that i mean actual specific cigar, not the type) was left out of a humi for over three months and spent three more in a badly regulated mini humi, constantly fluctuating between as low as 50% to as high as almost 80%. I even have a small theory that the fluctuation of the humidity that it was kept in, while not enough to adversely affect it, actually was what made it so good. Maybe it made the oils do some weird freaky $h1t.

If you can still detect aroma from the foot, then yes it can be done, but best, depending on their age, if they are brought back to humidity gradually. The older the slower.

Depends on storage conditions. If the cigars stayed in a damp, hardly heatable country house (63?, 65%RH) they're probably fine; if they were kept in an overheated, dry apartment (75?, 45% RH) that's an other story…
Anyway it's worth trying to save them if they don't fall into dust!

I think there is still a chance they could be revived.....

however just putting them straight in your humi (which im assuming is around 65-70%) will probably be to much for them as they will need to be done gradually otherwise they will split.

The question is how long can cigars be out of a humidor before they become unsaveable?

My father got give a box 25 Monty 5s and 4s also box 25 Romeo Y Julieta nearly a year ago and has asked me to put them in my humidor (like I have the space) to see if I can save them. I?ve told him it would be a waste of time and that all the oils and flavour would have faded. To keep him happy IV managed to just about get them in. Am I wasting my time and his time?
