Cigar Rolling Odyssey 2012 - Part 3 - Kiwi Torcedore
I guess everything, mould, tobacco etc...around 120 pounds, but I got a pretty mental amount of tobacco. I should be able to roll 100-200 cigars I think. But I think as I roll more I should be able to estimate better. I just rolled another 12, I'm getting better at the wrapper, I've found it should be quite moist to work with nicely Still the hardest part is bundling evenly and capping. I guess thats why they say practice makes perfect! Are you thinking of doing it yourself?
Hmm that's pretty good going really, and i guess those that don't come out well can be opened up and used again without too much trouble. Very tempted to have a go, maybe not with quite so much tobacco though, I've got nowhere to keep 200 cigars anyway!
I dod have a look on ebay uk for moulds but there weren't many and they were pretty pricey, have to keep an eye out.

The website does samplers which are pretty cheap and look pretty good! You should check out www.leboncoin.fr which is where I got my mould from If you would like help with the french just yell out
There is an extraordinary amount of wastage, which I'm keeping in a bag separate so that at the end I can possible roll some scrap together which slightly resembles a cigar. Actually in some instances I could have probably rolled two cigars from one wrapper leaf (well one side of one wrapper leaf, if you know what I mean?!).
Btw...just a thought, maybe try leaving a little extra overhang on the wrapper leaf, were the cap is and try a pigtail, it might make things easier...
Thanks for your message
You know thats a really good point, I thought about this as well before I received all the tobacco etc, I thought that a pigtail would be relatively easy to do. I was very wrong! I mean, in principle all you have to do twist the end, but its so much harder than this.....I'll keep practicing, but for now I think I'll have to stick with the normal cap
My mould arrived this morning, cost me ?18 delivered and the guy has another 3 i beleive.
Before i order any leaf does anyone know the official customs position for the UK ?
Is duty payable etc etc.
My labels offer still stands if you PM me your addy. (good for blend tracking by writing on them)
Yeah the official uk customs will want there share. If you grow and cure your own tobacco they still want there duty so can't see this being different though don't know what the rate will be.

Cool, thats a good price! What shape is the mould?
Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted a cut, but another member on here said that because it was unprocessed then its like agricultural goods, so was all good. Anyway, that member didn't have any duty to pay as far as I understand. I guess you're lucky or not.....
As pedro says, once its processed I guess thats when they want their cut.........hahahaha
